The glass transition temperature (Tg) of TPU can be controlled by the type of soft segment. Polyether-based TPU can have a Tg as low as -60℃, allowing it to remain flexible in extremely cold environments and preventing brittleness like PVC or some rubbers; while the high melting point of the hard segment gives it good high-temperature dimensional stability, preventing softening and deformation during short-term use at 70–80℃. This wide temperature range adaptability allows TPU transparent rubber bands to be used for binding frozen foods as well as securing precious metal pallets during high-temperature summer transportation, expanding their application scenarios far beyond traditional elastic bands.
